Azra Emekci

Azra Zeren Emekci is a junior at Pioneer High School in San Jose, California. Azra is the president and founder of the Slay The Day Squad club and the Vice President of HackerRank Club at Pioneer where she helps her peers earn Computer Science Certificates. Outside of school, Azra is a devoted Girl Scout and is the youth co-chair for planning the Lead the Way Conference for over 150 Girl Scouts throughout California. Azra plays the Turkish Kanun to connect to her roots and performs solos. Through holding various leadership positions, she’s realized that young girls are not empowered enough in the STEM field, so she founded the CodeSisters Club, to instill a passion for STEM in young intellectuals. She teaches computer programming in multiple mosques to girls in grades 4-6. Her intellectual journey led her to Stanford for a Bioinformatics certificate and later, to NASA, where she dove into the fascinating realm of omics data. She has published two research papers and is working on bioinformatic research projects using the skills she acquired. Azra was inspired by the guidance she received in Miss CEO’s Leadership Circle Workshops in 2022 and become a Miss CEO Ambassador the following year to fulfill her aspiration to be an inspirational figure herself. Azra is very hyped to be returning as a Miss CEO intern this year!
